The Comona archipelago's long history of subjugation by foreign entities is evident in its culture, which is dominated by Sapino influence that integrated and diluted the islands' native customs. Verusan, Indusian, and Osean cultural influences are all readily present in the main islands while the Navotas are predominately Islamic. As a consequence of the Sapino occupation, Comona is almost 90 percent Catholic, its language uses the Anean alphabet and borrows heavily from the Sapino language, the tribal structure has been largely dismantled, and much of the archipelago is heavily culturally integrated. Despite this relatively strong national identity, domestic strife over political disputes have taken place on numerous occasions since the islands won their independence
