The culture of modern Erusea is dominated by the influence of Nordic ethnic Eruseans; although Islamic Delarussians and Catholic Twinkle Islanders have affected the nation's overall cultural landscape, it has not been to a large enough degree for Erusea to be defined by them on a national level. Consequentially, the Erusean language and overall Erusean culture are primarily imports from Nordennavic which have evolved independently since initial settlement of the region. This Nordic influence has had a significant sociological impact on Erusea; a strong national identity has fostered egalitarian attitudes tolerant towards fellow Eruseans in terms of gender, sexual identity, and other personal matters, but has also resulted in a tendency toward xenophobia when faced with perceived outsiders, particularly evident in its relations with Ugellas. The Lutheran Church of Erusea, also tied in with Nordic identity, is the largest religious group with Catholics and Muslims at approximately 10% of the population each. Irreligious people are the second largest religious demographic with about 20% of the Erusean population not following any faith.
Erusea has cautiously cooperated with Western-led globalization in the wake of the Continental War with gradually increasing economic liberalization, but right-wing factions in the government have attempted to stifle cultural integration through regulations of the media and the Erusean language. Despite this, Osean and Usean popular culture have appealed t0 younger generations, with those born since 2000 expected to become a sizable demographic in the consumption of Western goods and media. They will not, however, rise to a position of political prominence for many years due to Erusea's stagnant birth rate, and older, more traditional Eruseans with qualms over the Continental War will dominate the Erusean political scene into the 2020s.
