The Free Erusean Republic is governed by a unicameral parliamentary system, which has been in place with minor variations since the First Republic. A Prime Minister elected by the general population and his appointed cabinet form the core of the executive branch. The Storting is a unicameral legislature that fulfills all legislative duties, and the Supreme Court consists of five judges appointed by the President of the Storting and approved by a vote.
The dominant political parties of the Fourth Republic are the Progressive Party (Erusean: Framstegspartiet) - which, contrary to its name, advocates classically liberal positions - and the Labour Party (Erusean: Arbeiderparti), which adopted a moderate Third Way stance during the Bruunist years to avoid his purges of Communists. Control of the Storting typically varies between the two parties each election cycle.
Erusea's socially conservative demographic in the northwest primarily votes for the Christian Democratic Party (Erusean: Kristeleg Folkeparti), while the opposite end of the populist spectrum is fulfilled by the Social Democratic Party (Erusean: Sosialdemokratparti), which was forced underground by Bruun but reemerged in 2006.
A number of ideologically extreme parties exist on the fringes of the Erusean political scheme. These include the neo-Fascist Nationalist Party (Erusean: Nasjonalistiske Partiet) advocate a return to the Bruunist system, the Twinkle Island Liberation Party is the TIRF's political wing, and prior to the province's secession the Islamic Democratic Patriotic Alliance of Delarus saw limited Storting representation.
