Following up on the success of the Kingfisher and Intrepid classes, the OMDF strengthened its carrier fleet at the height of the Cold War with the Hubert class CVN. With strong design similarities to the Kingfisher, but enlarged and equipped with two nuclear reactors, they quickly became the cornerstone of Western power projection and naval strategy. Although intended to be replaced by the Falcon class CVN, the program's cancellation in favor of the Anderson class Seabase and the Hubert's outstanding design have led some operators to carry out third refueling cycles, allowing their ships up to 75 years of service into the 2050s. Note that while the Hubert - named for popular President Allen Hubert who had died just prior to her commissioning - breaks from Osea's typical naming conventions, the Goshawk and later vessels do not.
