The Kingdom of North Point is a successor state to the Kingdom of Usea, ruled by heirs to the Edwardian dynasty, whose sovereignty was limited to the islands of North Point and Monmouth following popular continental opposition to the Church of Usea from the 1500s to 1700s. After a period of civil strife between monarchists and republicans that lasted until the 1800s, a compromise was reached and a constitutional monarchy was established in 1812. The new government presided over a federation over the districts of Columbia, Scotia, Albion, and Monmouth, and with the monarchy given a purely (taxpayer-subsidized) ceremonial role the parliamentary government sought improved relations with its onetime feudal subjects on the mainland.
